Oceania is
the
world's smallest continent (3.3 million square miles) and a diverse
region comprising Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and over
10,000 islands in the Pacific. It is divided into Melanesia,
Micronesia, and Polynesia, with a population of about 43 million,
largely in Australia. It faces major climate change, specifically
threats to low-lying islands from rising sea levels.
